Winter (December – March) is Zermatt at its most dramatic. Over 360 kilometres of ski runs open up, the village glitters with snow, and our fireside evenings are at their coziest. Book early — peak weeks sell out months in advance.
Spring (April – May) brings quieter trails and fields of wild crocuses. Lift-served skiing often runs into late April on the glacier, making it possible to ski in the morning and hike wildflower meadows after lunch.
Summer (June – September) is paradise for hikers. Over 400 kilometres of marked trails crisscross the region, temperatures hover around a pleasant 20°C, and the Matterhorn reflects in the still waters of the Riffelsee.
Autumn (October – November) is the secret season. The larch forests blaze gold, crowds thin to almost nothing, and room rates are at their most favourable. Our wine-and-culinary programme runs its most ambitious menus during harvest.
